I’m one episode in Money Heist and I’m not sure what they’re trying to do here but, if they’re going back and forth between present and past, I’m super confused. I feel like it is as though I may have missed quite a few episodes to fully understand bits of information this first ep was piecing together. That backflash element of this pilot really messed with me. And let’s not mention the acting.

Money Heist, originally titled La Casa De Papel, from what I got from that first episode, is about a bunch criminals being put together by “the Professor” (Alvaro Morte). The goal is to hit the royal mint and share 2.2billion euro between them. The main focus is on Tokyo (Ursula Corbero) who lost the love of her life during another robbery, and now lives her life on the run, only to fall in love again with one of the guys in this group, Rio (Miguel Herran). There is also a focus on a 17-year-old school girl who is coerced by a typical private school jock, to date her and ultimately embarrass her. I still haven’t figured out what the girl is about. But years of watching TV tells me, she’s someone important, like the president’s daughter, or something.

Overall, I’m bored. Even the small tiny little bit of gun action at the very end wasn’t enough to make my jaw drop or my excitement build. However, everyone I know that has watched this, thinks it shits all over similar criminal bases shows, such as Narcos. So, as per usual, I give in to the popular demand and must find out why. Let’s hope there is some sort of excitement and jaw dropping to come.
