I’m one episode in Moon Knight and I really, really like it. I’m so down for whatever is about to come out of this show. I was desperate to get to episode 2, but it was way passed my bedtime. Moon Knight, Steven Grant, Marc Spector, whatever his name is, isn’t a story or character I knew a lot about. Hubby let me in on a few things, but even he kind of looked over these comics. So, we went into this ignorantly, and open minded.

From what I gathered from episode one, Steven and/or Marc (Oscar Isaac) is your stock standard, London living bloke, with a humble job and what seems like a personality disorder. He chains himself when he sleeps and covers the floor around his bed with sand. This is to keep him from gallivanting at night. However, he will gallivant in his sleep, anyway. With constant memories of a life he does not recognise bringing him back and forth between now and then, and what seems like fantasy and reality, the story also oozes with ancient Egyptian themes. By the end, he gives in to his power and I’m super excited to figure it out with him.

And that’s what it was like the entire episode. Trying to figure out who he really is, where he actually comes from and how will he discover the truth about what is happening. The story allows us to go on this discovery journey with Steve, while he is chased by some scale tattooed baddy, who can determine who is worth keeping alive, and who should be sacrificed. Arthur Harrow’s (Ethan Hawke) superiority, despite being gently spoken, is scary.

This whole thing is mystical and I love it. There is definitely a haunting element to it and I’m here for it. Whatever this is supposed to be, however it’s supposed to intertwine with the rest of our Marvel fam, give it to me! I think I might have found my new favourite character, but time and story, will tell.
