I’m one episode in Pam & Tommy and I am sucked in. Already by the first episode I am learning so much about this drama that I didn’t entirely know, while fact checking, of course.  

Pam & Tommy, streaming in the spicy section of Disney+, surrounds the story of the Baywatch babe, Pamela Anderson (portrayed by Lily James), her then-husband, Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee (played by Sebastian Stan), and their infamous sex tape which made the rounds in the 90’s. After a disgruntled ex-employee of Tommy’s, chippy, Rand Gauthier (Seth Rohan) breaks in and steals Tommy’s safe, he comes across a tape. Lo and behold, the tape holds the key to really fucking with Tommy’s life, after he discovers with an old friend, Miltie (Nick Offerman) that it’s actually a sex tape between the rock star and his blonde bombshell wife.

I know of the story. Though I was only 6 or 7, I remember when it first came out, though I was completely ignorant to the context of the situation. It’s not one I ever cared to look into. So, to say that episode one has peaked my interest, is definitely accurate.

I’m in love with the idea of the little guy taking it to the big guy, and that’s what Rand is trying to achieve. They really cemented that element of the show from the get-go. Though you might have been a bit of a Tommy Lee/Motley Crue fan, or you had the biggest crush on Pam Anderson, you are already rooting for Rand, the carpenter. If how Tommy was depicted, as a rude, spoilt, arrogant fuck, is true at all, Tommy and his g-string were absolute dickheads and he deserves what’s coming to him. But Pam? Did she deserve it?

I do have to hand it to the effort James and Stan have gone into to transition into the couple. Stans dedication from the body, to the drumming, even his hair and facial hair, were on point. But James takes the cake. She looked absolutely stunning. I could not take my eyes off her when she was on screen.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what path they take moving forward. Definitely keen to smash this out and see how they handle the situation. Followed by a whole lot of googling to sus out the real story!
